The main training session for Junior Track & Field is on Tuesday evenings. During the summer months we train at Edmonscote running track and then during the winter months we move inside to a local sports hall and continue with multi event training.

Athletes training in this group are encouraged to compete once the coaches agree they are ready. Our junior teams compete in a range of leagues throughout the year. Between October to March it is mainly cross country within the West Midland Young Athletes Cross Country League. Then from April to July there are Youth Development League, Super 4 and Quadkids competitions.
Quadkids is a gentle introduction to competing with the emphasis on having fun. It is aimed at school years 3,4,5 & 6 and consists of four events – 75m sprint, 600m run, long jump and howler throw. There a three of these between May and July and we compete against teams from Solihull and Stratford Upon Avon.
Next is the Super 4 competition for children in years 6, 7, 8 & 9. Each athlete selects one track and one field event. Again there are three meets during the season, normally on a Friday night, once a month. Similar to Quadkids we compete against teams from Solihull and Stratford Upon Avon.
Youth Development League
Youth Development League Lower Age Group is for athletes in the U13s and U15s. This is a junior track & field event using UKA rules. These are division based competitions where we compete against seven other teams from around the region. The YDL season consists of three matches whereby the two top teams from each division go forward to a area final to achieve promotion to a higher division. Athletes competing in these matches can choose up to four events including a relay. It gives them a much broader selection to compete at events they enjoy and are stronger at.
During the winter months there is the Sportshall competiton for ages U11 to U15. These are held indoors and there are five meets between October & March. Best performing athletes are selected to represent their county at a regional final and there is even the possibility of reaching a national final.
