Leamington C&AC claimed victory

The Massey Tractor 10k on Easter Sunday saw athletes Callum Hanlon striding into first place and Natalie Bhangal crossing the line as first lady. In a race that also saw club members Tom Foulerton

take third prize, Greg West take first U20 man and Jenny Jeeves winning her age category. The club showed a dominance despite the club not being as large as some of its rivals and puts them in a good position at the start of the Warwickshire Road Race League.




The 10k course, saw Hanlon lead from the start to retain his winning title in the second year of the newly formed race. Striding out in front, Hanlon beat his time from last year and won comfortably with a 54 second lead on second place, finishing in a time of 32:28. Teammate Tom Foulerton pushed round to secure thi
rd place in a time of 34:18. Greg West, U20 winner, finished in 13th position overall in a time of 36:05. Charlie Staveley in 15th place (36:47). Jason Hill (37:20) was followed over the line by Dean Mawby (37:30) in 23rd and 24th place respectively.

Womens Race

Bhangal had been unable to train all week due to illness she finishing in an impressive time of 38:46 (35th place overall) and knocking 2 minutes off her personal best. The female contingent of the club is clearly made of strong stuff, as club mate Shamira Naidu-Young had battled with illness. Despite being under the weather, Naidu-Young finished in 49:03 and claimed that she felt better for competing. Jenny Jeeves, taking her age category win, was the 5th lady to cross the line in a time of 42:02. Saffia del Torre not far behind in 42:20 (PB).
