Young Athletes Endurance Training

If you enjoy running park runs or cross country or you think that you have a talent for distance running the club provides endurance training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.45 pm to 8.00 pm.

Endurance coaching is provided for 12 to 17 year olds in ability and age groups. You can train once or twice a week or, if you prefer, you can do track and field events on Tuesdays and endurance training on Thursdays. We aim for enjoyment and variety in training with several main elements:

  • Endurance training for distance running
  • Speed training
  • Speed endurance training to enable athletes to run fast over long distances
  • Strength training for hills

When our coaches think that you are ready and fit enough we expect and encourage you to compete in road relay events and cross country in winter and track events from 800m to 3000m in summer. The main cross country competition is the West Midlands Cross Country League in winter and the main track and field competition is the Youth Development League in summer.
Our older athletes also compete in distances up to 10 K in events such as the Two Castles Race.
