For those members fairly new to the Club, there is an annual event where the cyclists and athletes get together in memory of Ted and Doris Clifford. Ted was Club President for many years, and he and Doris were Chairs of the Men’s and Women’s County Athletic Associations, when they were separate associations. Ted, in his youth, had also been a keen cyclist. In their memory there is a 10 mile cycle race followed by a 4 mile run. Trophies are decided on aggregate times. Entry is free. You need to do both events to be in with a chance of winning the main trophy, but entering just one event is also fine if you can’t do both.
This year the 2 events are being run on consecutive evenings. It would be great to see lots of new participants at both events.

Run
Thursday 6th August 2026 – 7 pm start
- No pre-registration is required.
- Register on the evening between 6.00 and 6.30 pm at the athletics track (Edmondscote).
- The start is a short walk away on the other side of the river from the track. It is on the railway bridge which links the narrow path along the south bank of the river (next to the sewage works) to Leam Road.
- We will walk over to the start together at 6.40.
- The route goes out of Leam Rd and turns right onto Myton Rd. Run all the way along Myton Road, turn right at the roundabout and over the bridge heading into Warwick. Turn right through the main iron gates of St Nicolas park, run straight on between the astroturf pitches and the leisure centre and then follow the path heading right over the river and past the fishing pools. Turn left to rejoin Myton Rd, go all the way past Leam Rd and B & Q, and turn left at the roundabout with Pets at Home on the left. Cross the river again and turn left into Edmondscote Rd to take you back the finish at the track.
- First start will be around 7 pm for the slower runners. With faster runners starting in groups a few minutes later.
- Distance – Approximately 4 miles.
- Wear a club vest if you have one.
