At Leamington Juniors we coach children from aged 6 (Children are accepted in the summer term of year 1 ) to year 7. Chdilren are able to train Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday. Children who are year 6+ can train twice week with a event group coach (Endurance running, Speed and Agility, Throwing or Jumping all session are based on capacity of the groups)

Training groups are organised into age not ability.

All sessions are designed for children to learn, develop and practice their running, jumping and throwing skills. Session activities are tailored to the athletics year (For Example – Sportshall events/endurance focus in the winter and a track and field/sprints and running focus in the summer.)

Children are coached the fundamentals of fitness and atheltics: agility, balance, and coordination. A range of running and hurdling (sprints, hurdles, endurance), running & jumping (long jump, high jump, triple jump, pole vault) and throwing & catching (javelin, shot putt, discus, hammer) using games, drills, and technical aspects of each event. We also work on working as a team with leadership, learn track etiquette and are exposed to older athletes who train at a similar time.

It was the highlight of my 8 year olds summer and he’ll definitely be back- Chloe.S

A big ‘thank you’ to Mary, Dave and all the coaching staff for another BRILLIANT athletics camp. The girls absolutely loved it and it’s been wonderful to see how their enthusiasm and enjoyment has grown. Mila now does the Parkrun every week and has even started running with our dog, Patch, in the mornings. Frankie is doing her best to keep up, despite much shorter legs!

Again, many thanks for all the time /  effort you have put into this – it has truly transformed junior athletics at the Club. – Tom F
