England Athletics held their West Midlands Regional Volunteer Awards evening on Monday 9th September. The event was at the Midlands Arts Centre in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The Club continued on it’s previous successes with a number of winners and notable mentions.

First the Sepcial Recognition, which is for raising awareness of any positive news within athletics, went to Karoline Schnieder, Lauren Ashbourne and Stanley Doxey. The all find the time to be both athletes and officials at meetings, proving the two can be done.

Next the award for Coach of the Year went to Katharine Stein for her work in creating a very respected pole vault group within the region. Kat has supported many of her athletes at a wide range of events throughout the season, as well as coming up with innovative ways of training.

Finally a joint winner of the Inspiring Official, was awarded to David Ashbourne. He is a very active official and is involved in the organisation of officials for a number of Warwickshire championships as well as providing mentoring to officials in the county.
